The Blog Series <Ver0.3>

Something, something, worth it all…

After going through many websites and YouTube channels I came across Emit.Reviews. His information was honest, informative, and straightforward. I want to give him a shout-out for sharing his wisdom and making my journey much easier, thanks!

In his video Free Web Hosting Provider That ACTUALLY Works! (2024), he suggested that you can build a website and host it for free. This is perfect for beginners because you are not locked into a contract and it is 100% free. I decided to follow his advice and I suggest you do too. The hosting provider is Web Host Most and it is an absolute breeze to set up an account to begin the page-building process. I followed his advice and his video how-to video and within a couple of hours, I was up and running.

As I stated before, one of the big concerns when starting a Blog is whether or not you will stick at it and then waste money. This takes that out of the equation, with a no-cost functional, working option. There are some limitations with this service and I will discuss them and show some ways to mitigate them as we go. The big one is the limit on the disk space for content capped at 125 Mb. What that means for the layman, is it effectively limits the amount of images and interactive elements you can use on your site/blog. Personally, I think that it is better to start small and expand as you need to. You can take your data nad move it to another provider if you want to later, or you can use this purely as practice and start a full-blown new site later, the choice is yours.

So this is how to start:

First, go to the Web Host Most – Free Hosting page and click the start for free button.

On the next window, choose <Use Subdomain> option. By selecting this, you will end up with a URL that ends with ‘freewebhostmost.com’ for instance: https://joainieloveschachi.freewebhostmost.com. I suggest this for our first website because it is free. Generally, you would not want this type of extension for a professional site but, this free service is a great way to start until you are confident and ready to purchase a domain name you choose. Remember this is to learn and we are trying to set everything up for free.

Next, choose your website’s name and check to see if the name you want is available.

On the next page, you will be asked to Configure your plan. Here you can see we have selected “Forever Free” as the plan and we need to choose a server location. Your server location should be one that is closest to your target audience to maintain a fast efficient website. For instance, if I was physically located in Pretoria, South Africa but the audience for my blog is in Australia, I should choose the Australian server. For most cases, the server closest to you is the best option.

Once you are ready click <Continue>.

At Review & Checkout you can see our free website URL. Below that it asks for your personal information. This information is for the administration of the site and billing.

As this is your first time, you will need to create a new Web Host Most account. Enter your name address, phone number etc and create a password in the Billing Details section. I am a huge advocate of having secure, non-repeated passwords and the password generator here is a handy tool to help with just that. Just be sure to save it somewhere safely for future use.

Lastly you will need to enter billing details. When I used my PayPal account for the signup process it did not even attempt to go to the PayPal website, it just went through. I did not try with a credit card but I imagine it would be the same. If anyone does try it, please shoot me a message to let me know what happened and how you found the experience.

You can choose if you would like emails from Web Host Most yourself.

Then after you have read through all the terms of service <Ahhh..Bull$*(#!> be sure to tick the box and proceed to the checkout.

After you have checked out, you will receive a bunch of emails to your chosen email address including ones that will contain all your user details, server information and other important information. Keep this informatino safe as I will come in handy in various scenarios in the future. For now though lets move on to building the web page and congratulations! You have now beaten <Level 1 – Choose a Hosting Service>.
